Srinagar June 05:(KNS) The Department of Horticulture, Kashmir today on Saturday 

celebrated the world Environment day at Directorate of Horticulture 

Kashmir, Rajbagh, Srinagar.

 Besides Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS), many officers/officials participated in the event. To mark the event the Director planted a fruit plant at 

Horticulture complex. On the occasion the director highlighted the importance of celebrating world Environment day. For the protection of environment Director emphasized upon the use of organic manures and less use of pesticides on fruit plants. 

Taking this as an opportunity he advised the orchardists that instead of burning and leaves they

should use them for making compost. He also stressed on using the pruning wastes for making briquettes. 

At the end Director wished everybody on world environment 

day and hoped that we should give our coming generations a 

healthier and happier environment to live. (KNS)
