Srinagar, Feb 14 (KNS): BJP Kashmir Unit on Friday welcomed the holding of by-election for nearly 13,000 panchayat seats in Jammu and Kashmir and stated that it would boost morale of people.
Party’ Media In-charge, Manzoor Bhat said it would be the first historical political exercise to choose alternative over traditional politics in the region.
“The traditional politics has exploited the region over the past several decades and now it is time for change,” he said.
Bhat stated that political parties which boycotted the 2018 panchayat elections were in deep ignorance, and they tried to weaken the grass root democracy but failed.
“There are thousands of seats lying vacant in the J&K and BJP would try to strengthen grass root democracy and empower the people,” he said.
Party’s Media In-Charge, Manzoor Bhat said administration should restore the broadband connections immediately in the valley so that people would not face more problems.
“Despite purchasing costly firewall equipment, the administration is yet to restore internet in Kashmir. How much people have to wait for its restoration,” he questioned.
As per the Bhat, it has been more than 6 months now and authorities are yet to announce the exact dates for its restoration in valley.
He also appreciating the J&K administration’s step for fixing timetable for bureaucrats to meet people and resolve their grievances.
“This step is encouraging that admin has fixed timing of bureaucrats to meet people, it would also act as a bridge between administration and people,” Bhat added. (KNS)
