Srinagar, Mar 08 (KNS): HN Wanchoo Trust, Kashmir and Govt College for Women, Nawa Kadal Celebrated "International Women's Day" on Wednesday 8 March, 2017 at Govt College for Women, Nawa Kadal, commencing with the aim to provide equal rights to women in all aspects of life be it Education, Sports, Entrepreneurship, Manufacturer, Arts and Creativity.
On the occasion young women share their success stories, set of challenges, hurdles and other limitations while pursuing their aim and fulfilling their dreams.
Welcoming all the guests Prof Maqsooda Khan, Principal, Govt College for Women, Nawa Kadal said that this college has a lot of potential, ambition and talent and if given a chance they can achieve a lot. She also thanked speakers for their inspiring stories and encouragement to the students.
Tabish Habib, Founder of ThinkPod spoke about how she saw the young and budding Entrepreneurs suffer due to the difficulties on setting up their business units. That's how ThinkPod (Incubation Centre) came into existence, She asked girls to come out from the cocoon and think new ideas and being creative always has its perks. Speaking on the occasion Benish Ali Bhat, Journalist and a Documentary maker spoke about her experience while making the "Eve's Silent Nightmares" (A Documentary on Eve Teasing in Kashmir). Arifa Jan, being the Alumnus of the College and Founder of Incredible Kashmiri Crafts spoke about her initiative reviving Namda Industry and how Artisans has collaborated with her in her venture.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelBeing the Women's National Coach Bilquis Mir spoke about her initial struggle while now being a successful International player, She insisted girls to join sports not just for the sake of their hobby but as a full time professional carer.
She said that she can get all the support from Government agencies to help the college in every respect.
During the Session, Cheif Guest Ms Sargun Shukla, IPS SP Traffic City, Srinagar congratulated all girls on Int'l Women's Day and encouraged them to come forward in all forms of life. While answering a question on various traffic jams in city she said Traffic dept is building a specif plan for the peripheral connectivity and the dpt is in accordance with SMC, Srinagar and all other civil dept's for road engineering. She said we all will see some major changes in traffic regulations in and around city.
Presenting the vote of thanks Dr Amit Wanchoo, Founder Chairman HN Wanchoo Trust said that the college being in Downtown needs an activity club where girls can plan and participate in different activities. He said that this college used to be the vibrant college and he will extend all the support to see it once again on the top.
In the closing ceremony Prof Maqsooda Khan and Dr Amit presented Momentoes to all the Guests and to the Govt College for Women, Nawa Kadal. (KNS)
