Srinagar, May 07(KNS): The Kashmir Youth Football Tournament (KYFT) – U-16 (Boys & Girls), organized by the 161 Battalion CRPF, concluded successfully with great enthusiasm and overwhelming participation in Downtown, marking a significant revival of football culture in the area.
The U-16 Girls Final witnessed an exciting contest where New Hyderya Football Club emerged as the winner, defeating Tawheed Tigers Soura by 1–0. The decisive goal was scored by Ulfat, who was also declared the Player of the Tournament for her outstanding performance.
In the U-16 Boys Final, Haroon Football Club clinched the title by defeating Hyderya Football Club with a scoreline of 2–1 in a thrilling encounter. Saidan Bukhari, captain of Haroon Football Club, was declared the Player of the Tournament for his exceptional leadership and consistent performance throughout the competition.
The event was graced by Sh. Balihar Singh, Commandant, 161 BN CRPF, as the Chief Guest, along with Sh. Sanjay Kumar, 2IC, 161 BN CRPF. The tournament stands as a historic initiative in Downtown, an area where football once flourished, and has now been revived through this commendable effort.
A large number of spectators gathered to witness the finals, including enthusiastic participation from students of Government Girls High School, Narwara, Eidgah, reflecting the growing interest among young girls and boys in sports.
During the event, Sh. Balihar Singh distributed volleyballs and nets to the students of the school.

Medals, cash prizes, and trophies were distributed among the winner, runner-up, and third-place teams in both boys and girls categories.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Balihar Singh encouraged the youth, especially young girls, to actively participate in sports and bring pride to Kashmir and the nation. He emphasized the importance of staying away from drugs and adopting a healthy lifestyle through sports and constructive activities.
On the occasion, Sh. Sanjay Kumar, 2IC, also highlighted the role of sports in steering youth away from drug abuse and negative influences, urging them to channel their energy into positive pursuits.
The event was also attended by Sh. Amit Kumar Singh, Assistant Commandant, and Sh. Kiran Sonawane, who motivated and supported the young participants.
This initiative by 161 BN CRPF is one of the first of its kind in Downtown, and the enthusiastic participation of locals reflects growing trust, cooperation, and a shared vision for a better future.
