The various areas in Srinagar including business hub Lal Chowk, Jawahar Nagar, Rambagh, Raj Bagh, Khanyar, Habba Kadal, Nowpora, Bemina and others are water logged resulting in immense hardships to the local population.
However, the inhabitants of old city said that no action was taken by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to dewater their areas till the late evening.
Locals told KNS that, “SMC is in deep slumber as they didn’t even bother to visit the areas which were submerged due to the incessant rainfall.”
They said that the authorities should have dewatered their areas but unfortunately they failed to do so. “We are being pushed to walls due to the poor drainage system in our area,” they lamented.
Accusing higher ups for ignoring their plights, the inhabitants here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances. (KNS)
