Health awareness program held near LoC at GHS Balkote Uri

 Sinagar, Apr 29 (KNS):  A health awareness program was held at Government High School (GHS) Balkote, Uri near the Line of Control (LoC).

 

The program, organized by two Kashmir-based NGOs - Saaya and Uri Foundation, had the theme of ‘Healthy lifestyle.’

 

The aim of the program, according to a statement by the organizers, was to educate children in this remote area about health and hygiene.

 

The program began with a speech of Zahid Fayaz, a health educator at SDH Uri, who impressed upon the better way to wash hands and how to stay clean.

 

Advocate Toseal Ahmad said that there was a dire need to maintain good hygiene in present time. He further informed the students that one can also take the legal help in this regard.

 

Haseeb, a student of the school delivered a speech on the healthy lifestyle.

 

Abrar Ahmad, a faculty of the school appealed to the students to follow all the safety measures so as to stay safe from various germs and bacteria which can prove deadly sometime.

 

Before the conclusion, headmaster of the school, Javaid Banday thanked the NGOs for holding such an awareness program in a remote border area. “They were taught about various important issues like avoiding junk food, need to do exercises and staying away from the drugs,” he said.

 

Banday said the school would appreciate and welcome if more such awareness programs are conducted there.
