Hazratbal Siege Anniversary: Freedom Party remembers martyrs

Srinagar, Oct 15 (KNS): On 23rd anniversary of Hazratbal siege, the Democratic Freedom Party has termed the day as heart wrenching incident of Kashmir history.
In a statement to KNS, a DFP spokesperson said the Indian and state rulers deliberately gave rise to such a tragedy the pain of which can be felt even Thursday. Elaborating, the spokesperson said: "During the Hazratbal siege, the whole state reverberated with slogans demanding freedom from Indian occupation. Then, under a well planned conspiracy, Indian occupational forces while trying to desecrate the sanctity of religious places started laying siege of Dargah Hazratbal and repeated the massacres in nook and corner of the valley."
Paying glowing tributes to those martyred on the occasion, the spokesperson said 65 innocent people (including those from Bijbehara and Srinagar) were gunned down by brutal forces and hundreds others injured.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"We salute the sacrifices of those martyrs and reiterate the pledge of taking their mission to we achieve the goal of freedom," he said.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson while condemning the arrest of its party workers severely criticized the state administration saying they have turned the whole state into a virtual jail."Freedom Party's Abdul Waheed, Naseer Ahmad, Abdul Ahad, and others are arrested before Eid and despite court ordering their release, they are kept being bars. Similarly, in Islamabad, Baramulla, Kupwara, Sopore and Handwara the houses of party activists are raided and their families harassed. These are extremely condemnable acts on part of so-called administration," the DFP spokesperson added. (KNS)
