‘Such atmosphere creates pessimism among youth’

Srinagar, Feb 26 (KNS): Chairman Democratic Nationalist Party Ghulam Hassan Mir has urged the Home Minister Rajnath Singh to intervene to end the atmosphere of insecurity and intolerance prevailing in the country for.
“Home Minister (Rajnath Singh) should intervene and help in creating an atmosphere in which no one feels threatened and insecure,” the former minister said.
While referring to the situation after the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, Mir told KNS that colleges, universities are ground for positive activities where students are groomed to play positive and constructive role in shaping up the nations.
Many students in JNU had organised a cultural event on the third anniversary of hanging of Afzal Guru on February 9, in which Delhi police has launched a hunt for some Kashmiri students for being part of the event and charging them of sedition.
“The youth of Kashmir had begun to see their future and career in the country, but such a situation and atmosphere creates negativity and pessimism in the minds of the children here,” the DNP chief told KNS.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“The atmosphere being created from the last one year has given rise to sense of insecurity, particularly among Kashmiri students studying in New Delhi and other states. Parents of these students are feeling worried about their safety and security,” Mir said.
He said that universities are the foundations of free discussions, debates where students develop ciritical thinking, and debate pros and cons of an issue, be it political, judicial, or developmental.
“India is country with voices of diversity, and I appreciate that India not the Indian in which voices are suffocated,” he said.
“India is governed by the constitution which emphasizes that every individual is safe and secure. It is not ruled by the majority rule and rule of violence,” he said. (KNS)
