Happy to see tourism flourishing, valley so far records around 1 Million visitors this year: Dir Tourism Kashmir

Srinagar, June 13 (KNS): Director Tourism Kashmir Dr. G N Itoo on Sunday said that the tourism department is happy to know that the stakeholders associated with the tourism in the area are witnessing flourishing tourism.
 
Dr. Itoo made these comments while speaking exclusively to news agency Kashmir News Service—KNS on the sidelines of Sufi festival at Pahalgam.
 
“I am being told that the stakeholders associated with tourism in the area, be it hoteliers, Pony Wallas or other associated stakeholders, are happy as their business is going smoothly. We are happy that the tourism department in the year 2021 started an initiative with stakeholders to review the tourism and despite challenges we were successful in reviving the tourism”, Dr. Itoo said.
 
Stating that around one million tourists have so far visited the valley this year, Dr. Itoo said that the tourism department looks beyond the world famous tourist destinations Gulmarg and Pahalgam. 
 
“There is no doubt that the Gulmarg or Pahalgam is world famous attraction for visitors, but tourism department looks beyond and the department has so far been successful in tapping those areas be it heritage, craft or Offbeat tourist destinations and that is the reason we are witnessing a good tourism flow”, Dr. Itoo added. 
 
In an exclusive interview with news agency Kashmir News Service’s (KNS) senior correspondent Tasaduq Hussain spoke to Director Tourism Dr. G N Itoo about the event and other tourism developments.
 
Director tourism Kashmir told KNS that he is happy to know that the stakeholders associated with the tourism industry in Pahalgam are happy 
 
Director tourism also highlighted the start of first time winter tourism in Sonamarg, Yousmarg, and Doodhpathri, saying “department this year started various winter tourism activities in the areas and that is also among the reasons of witnessing good tourism and today there is not only Gulmarg or Pahalgam which is being looked there are other destinations which are being visited by tourists”—(KNS)
