Handwara, Jan 08 (KNS): The residents of several villages in Mawar locality of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have urged the authorities to make biometric attendance mandatory at government offices.

Locals told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that they have sought installation of biometric attendance system at tehsil, NTPHC, PWD, Jal Shakti, PDD, BDO, and other government office for better governance.

They also urged deputy commissioner Kupwara Dr. Sagar to set up biometrics for employees falling under the category of circle panchayat to provide better facilities to the people of the area.

"The officials of these departments are giving one reason or another for their absence, resulting in common people facing the hardships. Most of the times these employees have been found absent and are engrossed with their personal works,” they said.

They said installation of biometric attendance system in these offices will bring a major relief to the people.

The residents hoped that deputy commissioner Kupwara would look into the matter seriously and direct officials for installation of biometric attendance system. (KNS)
