Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): People in Handwara are aghast with the district administration for making the Irrigation department in the tehsil defunct from the last two months as the incumbent executive engineer has gone on leave.
The residents said that the administration appointed executive engineer PHE as incharge for the division, but “he does not attend to the office.”
“From the last two months, we are suffering as the irrigation office is completely defunct without its head. No work is done here.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWhen we go to the office, the employees say they can do nothing as their head is on leave,” the residents told KNS.
Besides residents who have pending grievances, the employees and the contractors are also in trouble. “Without the head, no bills are released,” said a contractor.
The employees claimed that their salary ahs also not been released as the head is on leave.
The people have appealed to the district administration to look into the matter. (KNS)
