Handwara residents block road to protest against water scarcity

Handwara, Sep 07(KNS) : Residents of Braripora village of Handwara in North kashmir's Kupwara district Tuesday held a protest against the Jal-Shakti department for failing to provide adequate drinking water since long. 

Witnesses told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that the protesters including women, blocked the Handwara- Kupwara Highway for hours together and disrupted the traffic moment to draw attention of the authorities towards their problems. “We are being forced to survive under severe water crisis since long”, the  protesters said. 

The agitating people also accused the department of turning the blind eye to their genuine pleas. "Despite requesting the concerned officials time and again nothing was done on the ground,” they added. 

The protesters appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara imam-u-din to intervene and redress their genuine demands(KNS)
