Handwara, Mar 24 (KNS): At least twenty five private schools have been locked down in Handwara and Kupwara towns forcing neartly ten thousand school children to stay back at home on Saturday.
The closure of schools has come as a recation by the school managments to the government directive for avoiding the hiring passenger vehicles for ferrying the students.
According to the KNS correspondent, Kupwara Private School’s Association President Shahbaz Ahamd while adressing media at Dank banglow Handwara accused authorties of jeopardizing the carrier of students . Shahbaz revealed that they had approached to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara also and had offered to hire SRTC buses till the schools get their own buses, however, according to him, there wasn’t any positive response from the Deputy Commissioner.
He alleged that only Handwara and Kupwara are being targeted whereas the other schools in rest of the valley do not face such problems.
Others who accompanied Shahbaz in the press brief include Zahoor Ahmad, Ab.Salam Mir, Mohd. Suleiman, Ab. Majeed and Altaf Ahmad. (KNS)
