Handwara, July 5 (KNS): In a swift response, Handwara Police on the night of July 4 foiled a bovine theft attempt near Mawer Crossing in the Qalamabad area. Acting on suspicion, a patrolling team from Police Station Qalamabad spotted a man moving with bovines under suspicious circumstances around 10:30 PM.
Upon noticing the police, the suspect tried to flee but was promptly apprehended by the alert personnel.
During questioning, the accused identified himself as Mohd Ismaiel Badana, son of Gulam ud Din, a resident of Lahikote Monabal.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelPreliminary investigation revealed that the animals had been stolen from the Puthwari Nowgam area and were being illegally transported toward Qalamabad, presumably for sale.
An FIR No. 20/2025 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Qalamabad. Further investigation is ongoing.
