Srinagar, Jan 25 (KNS): Joint Resistance Leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Mohammad Yassin Malik on Wednesday thanked people of Handwara for observing shutdown against the brutal and cruel act of the army and demanded impartial investigation into this massacre so that the involved persons are held strictly accountable. While as Tehreek-e Huriyat organized special prayers in Masjid Bilal Handwara in memory of martyrs of Handwara massacre.
Joint Resistance leaders said that during last 27 years the Indian forces brutally killed thousands of innocents and demanded impartial investigation into this massacre so that the involved persons are held strictly accountable., so it becomes the responsibility of the world community to come forward and discharge their duties in giving justice to the unarmed and innocent Kashmiris,” they said.
Meanwhile Tehreek-e-Huriyat Wednesday organized special prayers in Masjid Bilal at Handwara here in the memory of 25 January 1990 bloodshed of Handwara.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) said, “a complete shutdown was observed today in the Handwara town while as Tehreek-e-Huriyat organized special prayers at Handwara and prayed for the peace to the departed souls. Besides the different Masjids of the town, the special prayers were also held in Handwara for the martyrs which was led by the Tehreek-e-Huriyat leaders, Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, Zahoor ul Haq Geelani and Saif u Din Mir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The participants prayed for the peace to the departed souls and expressed their sympathy with the families of the martyred persons.”Bashir Ahmad Qureshi said that Kupwara district has offered tremendous and maximum sacrifices in the ongoing freedom struggle and the forces have unleashed “boundless cruelties and atrocities over the people of this district”.
“There is hardly any house in the whole district who doesn’t have lost their loved ones and who have not bore the brunt of the forces. Most of the widows and orphans due to the conflict are from this district and most of the molestation and the rape incidents by the forces is also the record of this district.
They however said that few political black sheep which grow up from this area, want to wash out all these sacrifices of the district. They not only bring a bad name to the district but they are also a shame for the whole nation and they have hurt the souls of those brave sons of the district who sacrificed their precious lives for the better future of the nation,” he said. Bashir Ahmad Qureshi said that the conscious and intellectual section of the society has a big responsibility and they should come forward to protect the pro-freedom identity of the district.
