Srinagar, Apr 17 (KNS): Valley’s trade bodies Monday demanded a time-bound inquiry through an independent agency into the Handwara killings, saying that government probe was not acceptable to them.
“We demand a time-bound inquiry through an independent into Handwara killings. Probe by government agency is not acceptable to us as its forces are involved in killings of civilians,” Mohammad Yasin Khan, chairman, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA), told reporters here during a joint press conference of the trade bodies.
Besides KEA, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) were present during the press conference.
As per KNS correspondent, Khan said that a seven-member team of top trade bodies visited Handwara and Kupwara district to make an on the spot assessment of the situation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Demanding immediate removal of bunkers from main market places and educational institutions in the Valley, particularly the bunker in Handwara market, the traders also said that FIR against the culprits for murders should be lodged.
Mohammad Ashraf Mir, president Federation Chamber of industries Kashmir (FCIK) said that the PDP-BJP coalition was not giving people space to protest.
“We are not given any space to protest. This coalition government is implementing Nagpur agenda. We do not need this alliance and chief minister Mehbooba Mufti should divorce them,” Mir said. (KNS)
