Srinagar, Dec 24 (KNS): Stating that Jammu and Kashmir Government Arts Emporium showrooms located outside the state to be up gradated on international standards, Industries and commerce minister Chander Prakash Ganga has said that government is committed to make J&K Handicrafts corporation more vibrant.
Officials of the corporation told KNS that the Minister visited Government Arts Emporium at Mumbai and Kolkatta and was accompanied by Managing Director I. H. Drabu and other officers of the Industries and Commerce Department.
“Minister took stock of the showrooms and reviewed their performance on spot and issued instructions to Managing Director for up gradation of the existing showrooms on International standards as the showrooms are mostly visited by Global customers,” one of the officials said.
He said that the Minister approves the purchase of handicraft items directly from the Artisans and their Societies thereby eradicating the role of middlemen.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“Ganga has instructed that the purchase of handicraft items shall now-onwards be centralized at Head Office and the branches will be augmented with the required stocks on their demand from there,”.
As per the officials the Minister also stressed that the Corporation must sell its exquisite handicraft items through online and every effort in these directions has to be made to computerized the branches so that the esteemed customers and Art lovers are provided these items at their doorsteps.
"Minister assured that all the funding shall be provided to the Corporation immediately to take-up this job on war footing.".
The officials added that he further re-iterated that in the coming future the Corporation will be strengthened and will be made more effective and vibrant. (KNS)
