Srinagar, Feb 27 (KNS): Handicraft department on Thursday organised an awareness programme at Handicrafts office in Handwara town of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to KNS correspondent 200 girls participated in the awareness programme and 175 girls were provided a registration card by the department.
The experts from handicrafts department informed the participants about various central and state government schemes for the promotion of Kashmiri handicrafts.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
During the awareness program, a large number of artisans of the district were made aware about adopting handicrafts as a means of livelihood to earn a decent income.
Dr Mudasir, Assistant Director of Handicrafts said, “The main aim of our department is to make people aware about the schemes that government of J&K has introduced for the artisan community.
“This programme has been organized for the purpose of creating awareness among handicraft experts. People should know that apart from the National and International market, there is a huge local market for our handicrafts. The main motive is to preserve this dying art. We are going to give them training at all the levels,” he said.
