Halt Vande Bharat at Anantnag for public convenience, G.A Mir writes to Vaishnaw

Srinagar, Apr 30 (KNS): Congress legislator and MLA Dooru Shahabad Ghulam Ahmad Mir has urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce a scheduled halt for the Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag railway station, citing inconvenience to passengers in south Kashmir.

In a communication to the minister accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) Mir said Anantnag, being a major commercial and tourism hub, serves as a gateway to prominent destinations including Pahalgam, Verinag, Daksum and Kokernag.

He said the railway station caters to a wide catchment area comprising Kulgam, Shopian and parts of Pulwama district, with considerable daily passenger footfall of students, traders, employees, tourists and patients.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The absence of a scheduled stop, he added, was causing hardship to passengers, particularly those travelling for medical emergencies, tourism and commercial activities.

MLA Mir said a stoppage at Anantnag would ensure balanced regional access to premium rail services, help decongest nearby stations, promote tourism in south Kashmir and support local trade and economic growth.

He expressed hope that the railway ministry would give due consideration to the public demand in the larger interest of the people. (KNS)
