Hakim Yasin welcomes HC observation on Sadr-i-Riyasat post

Ask PDP, NC to bring a bill in the Assembly

Srinagar, Dec 29 (KNS): While welcoming welcomed the Jammu and Kashmir High Court's observation on conversion of the post of 'Sadr-i-Riyasat' into Governor, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin Tuesday asked ruling PDP and opposition National Conference to bring a bill in the State Assembly to revert the arrangement.
In a statement to KNS he said, “NC claims that they we will fight for reverting back the arrangement while as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is silent till now. State government must forward a bill in the Assembly for amendment of the arrangement and revert back post of Sadr-i-Riyasat’. PDP always talked about self-rule and now is the test of their claims.”
“NC can’t only issue a statement and welcome it. It (NC) instead needs to fight for it. Now is the time for both the parties to prove their claims as they can’t befool people of the state always by mere slogans,” the MLA Khansahib said.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has recently observed that the conversion of the post of 'Sadr-i-Riyasat' into Governor in 1965 was against the state constitution but left it to the state Legislature to decide whether to continue with the existing constitutional arrangement or revert it.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Appealing all the mainstream parties to unite for the cause, the PDF chief said, “Let all the mainstream political parties unite and bring a bill in the Assembly. It is nothing new but it had been snatched from us. This is test for all political parties. Now is the time for pro-Kashmir parties to prove their claims.”
“PDP and NC can’t sell Article 370 rhetoric always as nobody can revoke special status of the J&K. Instead these two parties must work for restoration of those provisions of Article 370 which have been eroded from time to time,” Hakim Yasin observed.
Welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surprise visit to Lahore last week to meet his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif, he termed it a good beginning. “Kashmir is a political issue and only political authorities can solve it,” the MLA Khansahib said. (KNS)
