Hakeem Yaseen urges immediate relief for snow-affected Kashmir areas

Srinagar, Jan 29(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Thursday urged the administration to take urgent measures to provide relief to people affected by the recent heavy snowfall and gusty winds across Kashmir.

Expressing concern over hardships faced by residents, particularly in higher-altitude areas, Yaseen said the adverse weather had severely disrupted normal life, cutting off several areas from essential services and basic connectivity.

“The administration must act on a war footing to restore road connectivity in Khag, Khan Sahib, Beerwah, Chari-e-Sharif and other snowbound areas. Snow-covered roads have stranded residents and hampered movement of emergency services, making life extremely difficult,” he said.

Yaseen called for the restoration of electricity and water supply in affected regions, noting that prolonged outages had compounded difficulties for the elderly, children, and patients.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe urged deployment of special teams to address technical faults and prevent further disruption.

He also urged the authorities to assess losses suffered by families due to snowfall and strong winds, including damage to homes, livestock, and crops, and provide adequate compensation without bureaucratic delays.
“The affected families deserve immediate compensation and relief. The administration should ensure financial assistance reaches victims promptly,” he added.

Reiterating the need for proactive disaster management, Yaseen stressed that the government should strengthen preparedness to deal with natural calamities, prioritise public safety, and implement relief and rehabilitation measures efficiently and transparently.(KNS).
