Srinagar, April 19 (KNS) : Peoples Democratic Front (PDF), under the leadership of former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, on Sunday urged the Central Government to consider the immediate release of Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid on humanitarian grounds.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health condition of Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, father of Engineer Rashid, who is currently critically ill and on ventilator support at a hospital in Srinagar.
The PDF leader stated that the prevailing situation calls for compassion and sensitivity, emphasizing that humanitarian considerations must prevail in such circumstances.
“At a time when his father is battling for life, it is only humane and morally justified to allow Engineer Rashid to be with his family,” Yaseen said.
Khazir Mohammad Sheikh has been undergoing treatment and remains in critical condition, which has sparked widespread concern among political leaders and the general public.

He also expressed solidarity with the family and have joined the growing demand for granting relief to Engineer Rashid.
The Peoples Democratic Front reiterated its appeal to the Central Government to intervene and facilitate the temporary release of Engineer Rashid so that he can visit his critically ill father during this difficult time.
Hakeem Yaseen also said that as per the Geneva Conventions, humanitarian considerations must be upheld even in cases of detention, particularly during grave family emergencies. Referring to the critical condition of Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, he stressed that allowing Engineer Rashid to meet his ailing father would be in line with the principles of compassion, dignity, and respect for family rights, which form the core of international humanitarian norms.
The party further stated that such a step would not only uphold humanitarian values but also send a positive message of empathy and justice. (KNS)
