Srinagar, Jun 11(KNS): Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and former minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Thursday urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to make adequate arrangements for the annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Soliha (RA) in Khansahib area of Budgam district.
The Urs is scheduled to be observed on June 21 and is expected to attract thousands of devotees from different parts of the Valley.
In a statement, Yaseen said the annual congregation holds religious significance and reflects Kashmir's Sufi traditions of peace, tolerance and communal harmony.
He appealed to the district administration and concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply, proper sanitation and cleanliness, and adequate civic facilities during the Urs.
He also urged the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department to maintain sufficient stocks of essential commodities, including rice, flour, sugar and LPG cylinders, and sought additional ration allocations for the area during the festival period.
Yaseen called for coordination among the Power Development Department, Jal Shakti Department, Health Department, municipal authorities and traffic police to ensure smooth conduct of the Urs. He also sought deployment of medical teams, sanitation workers and traffic personnel at key locations for the convenience of devotees.
He appealed to people to participate in the Urs with devotion while maintaining cleanliness and respecting the sanctity of the occasion.(KNS).
