Demands construction of a permanent, full-fledged Hospital complex at Rishipora site

Urges to overcome the shortage of Covid vaccine.

Srinagar May 27 (KNS): Chairman People's Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen had strongly resented the move to shift the site for the proposed DRDO Covid Hospital from Reshipora Budgam to Khrew on flimsy grounds. He has sought Lieutenant Governor  Manoraj  Sinha's personal intervention to ensure the construction of a full-fledged hospital complex at Rishipora Budgam on a permanent basis where people have spared more than 100 kanals of state land for the purpose.
In a statement issued to Kashmir news service (KNS) on Monday Hakeem Yaseen while expressing his concern over reports that the site for construction of the proposed DRDO Covid Hospital is being shifted from Rishipora, Budgam to Khrew area, said that the move has created strong resentment and sadness among the people of Budgam district. He has urged the LG Manoj Sinha to address the grievances of the people in this regard and announce the construction of a full-fledged Hospital Complex at the Rishipora site on a permanent basis.

He said the construction of the hospital complex at Rishipora would go a long way to cater to the health care needs for a vast chunk of people of twin districts of Budgam and Srinagar as the site was centrally situated. He said people of Budgam district have viewed the last-minute change in site for construction of DRDO Covid Hospital from Rishipora to Khrew on flimsy soil testing excuse as motivated and illogical.

He said given the present-day modern engineering science and technology, soil testing should not be an obstacle for any ambitious mega infrastructural project. " If fragility of soil was any constraint in the way of upcoming prestigious projects, the world's highest railway bridge in Reasi district would have never come up, Hakeem Yaseen observed.
Hakeem Yaseen said that the present building housing the  District Hospital Budgam ( DHB ) was short of space and inadequate commensurate to a district-level health care institute, so construction of a new hospital complex at the available land at Rishipora Budgam was urgent need of the hour.  "LG should, without any wait, announce the construction of a full-fledged Hospital complex at Rishipora to address the concern of the annoyed people of Budgam and to instil hope of confidence among them, " Hakeem Yaseen maintained.

PDF Chairman has also urged the LG to extend adequate covid containment measures in rural areas of Kashmir as the 2nd wave of the dreaded infection has started penetrating deep at a faster speed in villages and remote areas too. He has also urged the need to address the acute shortage of Covid vaccine in Kashmir on a war-footing basis to contain the Covid pandemic and to lower the curve of the rising graph of deaths due to the infection. He has underscored the need to provide an adequate number of oxygen plants in both Kashmir and Jammu provinces rationally without any discrimination.(KNS)
