Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen Expresses Grief Over Civilian Deaths in Leh; Calls for Dialogue to Restore Peace

Srinagar, Sept 26 (KNS) : President of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has expressed deep sorrow and anguish over the tragic loss of lives and injuries sustained during the September 24 protest in Leh.

In a Statement Issued , he said, Four civilians lost their lives, 15 others were seriously injured, and around 30 more suffered minor injuries during the clashes. One of the critically injured persons has been airlifted to New Delhi for advanced treatment.

In his condolence message, Yaseen said the deaths of innocent civilians are “a heart-wrenching tragedy that has cast a pall of grief across Ladakh.”

He extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for strength to help them bear the irreparable loss. “There can be no justification for civilian killings. The entire region mourns the loss of these precious lives. I stand in solidarity with the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of all those who have been injured,” he said.

The PDF President also highlighted the urgent need for a healing touch and restraint from all sides in order to prevent further escalation of tensions. Underscoring the way forward, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said dialogue is the only means to resolve grievances and restore normalcy.

He urged the Union Government to immediately initiate a credible and inclusive process of dialogue with all stakeholders in Ladakh, including civil society and political representatives, to address long-pending concerns in a democratic manner.

“Force and confrontation only deepen wounds. It is dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation that can pave the path to peace and justice,” he stressed.

Expressing solidarity with the people of Ladakh, he noted that the region has a proud history of communal harmony, tolerance, and brotherhood. He urged community elders, religious leaders, and youth to uphold these values and not allow vested interests to exploit the situation for political gains. “The need of the hour is unity and compassion. We must work together to heal the scars left by this tragedy,” Yaseen added.

Reiterating his condolences, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen assured that his party stands with the bereaved families and all those injured. He called upon authorities to provide immediate medical, financial, and psychological support to the victims’ families and ensure justice for those affected.(KNS)
