Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie elected as president Sopore Traders Federation

Sopore, July 30 (KNS) : As the election saw a massive turnout of voters, Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie on Saturday was elected as the president Sopore Traders Federation. 

The day-long elections of traders federation of Sopore was held with fervour at Guru Hospital, Sopore. The election saw new and young faces like Rayees Kaloo besides big stalwarts like Haji Mohammad Ashraf.

The election was conducted free, fair, peaceful and transparent by the members of Election Committee including Poll Observers. Besides, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were deployed in and around the polling booth in order to maintain law and order in the town. 

As per the details available with the news agency - Kashmir News Service (KNS), out of total 3365 votes, 2325 votes were polled in which Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie got 1028 votes, Rayees Ahmad Kaloo 918 and Zaffar Iqbal Bhat 369 votes.

While talking to the KNS, a trader told that they had never witnessed such kind of festive atmosphere in the town. “It was no less than a legislative assembly election. From hoardings, door to door campaigning and rallies, the trade elections brought a festive season to Sopore,” he said. 

A number of people including administrative officers and civil society members, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam members congratulated Ganaie for becoming the president of the federation. 

Meanwhile, Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie, the newly elected president assured the people associated with trade and business that he will work tirelessly to solve the different problems faced by them.(KNS)
