Governor, Mr.N.N Vohra, who is Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, today held a meeting at the Raj Bhavan to review arrangements for the ongoing Yatra, which commenced from both the Baltal and Pahalgam Routes on 2nd July 2015.
Mr. P.K Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Jitendra K. Singh Additional Chief Executive Officer of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, briefed the Governor about the to-date position regarding the on-ground arrangements made by the various concerned State Government Departments, and other agencies.
It is relevant to observe that the CEO and the Additional CEO have been interacting daily with the officials of all the agencies engaged in the conduct of Yatra and particularly enquiring about the arrangements at the Shrine and at all the Yatra Camps. At the end of the day the CEO furnishes a detailed report, on all counts, to the Chairman.
During the meeting, CEO informed the Governor that the arrangements in regard to Sanitation, Water and Power Supply, Medical Units, Langars, availability of essential commodities like ration and LPG, accommodation for the Yatris at Camps, functioning of MRTs etc. had been satisfactory in the past seven days, despite some initial hiccups.
Governor re-iterated his earlier directions to CEO and Addl. CEO to closely monitor the Yatra, ensure effective coordination with all the agencies involved in the conduct of pilgrimage and ensure the safety and security of the Yatris particularly in regard to the forward movement of the pilgrims from the two Base Camps and onwards to the Holy Shrine.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe CEO must halt/suspend the Yatra if there is any weather forecast warning.
About the On-spot registration of Yatris which commenced on 1st July at Vaishnavi Dham, Sarswati Dham, Jammu Haat and Geeta Bhawan in Jammu and in TRC Nowgam at Srinagar, the CEO informed the Governor that 22,200 slots for On-spot registration had been made available up to 8th July and 9600 slots are being released for Yatra on 11th and 12th July. The quota for On-Spot Registration, for each route, is being released daily on the basis of the trend of arrival of yatris at Baltal and Chandanwari, and also keeping in view the number of pilgrims who have earlier secured advance registration through the counters at 430 Bank Branches which commenced from 2nd March, 2015 onwards. Yatris have been repeatedly advised to avail of Advance Registration facility to avoid any inconvenience on arrival in the Valley. Advance Registration is available up to 8 days before the intended date of commencement of Yatra.
The Governor was informed that till today afternoon more than one lakh devotees had paid obeisance at the Holy Cave.
