She said compensation had been provided to the bereaved family through the Red Cross.
The woman died while being shifted to the District Hospital in Bandipora early Wednesday, while her baby was stillborn. Her family has alleged that snowfall and restrictions on night-time movement delayed her emergency referral.
The incident has triggered anger in the remote Gurez valley, with locals demanding accountability over the alleged delay in medical evacuation. (KNS)
