Srinagar, Jan 27 (KNS): Thousands of people are living under avalanche threat at Gurez sector in north Kashmirs Bandipora district. Administration is taking all measures for their safety and is relocating them at safer places, says ADC Bandipora.
In Gurez tehsil 28 villages, with population more than 25-thousand, are living under dangerous avalanche threats.
According to the KNS correspondent, resident of villages like; Abdullan, Achora, Wanpora, Budungam, Burnai , Gujriya and other are frightened, as the risk of avalanche has increased.
He said there is no communication between communities and people are afraid of coming out from their houses. The residents are short of food and water. “Hundreds of patients are without medicines,” he said.
The main roads are blocked and no one can go upto hospital.
The Additional district commissioner Bandipora, Khursheed Ahmad Ganie told KNS that they have sent rescue teams towards the area and all efforts are on to get people in safer people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said, “Most of people have been shifted from danger zones towards safer areas like Tulail and Dawar, where medical teams have been deputed”.
The divisional administration Kashmir has issued fresh avalanche warning for next 24-hours, in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the statement that there is avalanche warning in higher areas of state and people are advised to keep clearing the snow deposition from roof tops of their houses/ bunkers to avoid damages.
The ‘High Danger Avalanche Warning’ exists for avalanche prone slopes in; Kupwara, Bandipora, Anantnag, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Budgam, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Riasi, Doda, Kishtwar and Kargil Districts of Jammu & Kashmir.
District administrations have been directed to take all precautionary measures for the safety of public. (KNS)
