Srinagar, Oct 02(KNS) An encounter has started between militants and security forces in Baskushan area of Imamsahab in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said on Monday.
An official said that a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area. "As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight," he said.
"Encounter has started at Baskuchan area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone Police said in it's earlier tweet.(KNS)
