Gunfight rages in Pulwama, second of the day in Valley

Srinagar, Sept 04 (KNS): A gunfight between militants and government forces raged in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
According to reports, a joint team of Police, 55RR and CRPF launched Cordon And Search Operation (CASO) in Babhoora village of Pulwama district after receiving inputs about presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon forces, triggering gunfight at the scene, police official said.
He added the fire was retaliated and all entry and exit points of the area have been sealed.
He said as far as inputs received are concerned, there are two to three militants to be trapped in the area. However the exchange of fire was going on till this report was filled.
Earlier in the morning, a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in north Kashmir’s Pattan area where as per defense sources, one unidentified militant has been killed, besides injuries to Army Major and SOG personnel. (KNS)
