Srinagar, May 25 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday lauded the swift response of all agencies and rescue personnel involved in the safe evacuation of tourists stranded due to a technical malfunction in the Gulmarg Gondola, asserting that a thorough inquiry will be held into the incident.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) commended the professionalism and coordination displayed during the rescue operation, which ensured that all stranded tourists were brought to safety without any casualty.
He, however, made it clear that the matter will not be taken lightly. “The incident will be thoroughly examined, and an enquiry conducted. Responsibility for any lapses will be fixed, and appropriate action will be taken against those found negligent,” the Chief Minister added.
Notably, the iconic cable car project at Gulmarg, one of the highest in the world, developed a technical snag earlier in the day, leaving hundreds of tourists suspended mid-air for hours before being evacuated. (KNS)
