Group of Kolkata tourists caught with fake tickets at Gulmarg gondola

Srinagar, April 28 (KNS):The ticketing squad at Gulmarg Gondola, led by In-charge Operations Gulmarg Gondola Riyaz Ahmad Makai, apprehended a group of 10 tourists from Kolkata for possessing fake tickets.


An official statement said that the incident occurred today at 3:00 PM when the tourists arrived at the G1 Station to board the Gondola.

"Upon examining their tickets, the officials found that out of the 18 tickets, only 8 were valid, and the remaining 10 were counterfeit. The tickets had no records in the actual database, and it was later discovered that the tourists had bought them from a local vendor in Kolkata through a tour company named Maa Tara Tours and Travels," it said.

It also said that the case was immediately reported to the SHO of Gulmarg, Mr Irshad Ahmad, who has launched an investigation to identify the culprits behind the fake ticket racket. "The management of the cable car corporation has taken a firm stance on the matter, adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards such malpractices," it added.

"?The group of tourists had come through tour company namely Maa Tara tours and travels Dakshin Dari road Kolkata 48. Who had facilitated them to purchase these tickets from a local vendor at Kolkata," it added.

"This case is first of its kind  as these tourists were caught with fake tickets which no where exist in the actual records," the statement said, adding that the case was immediately forwarded to SHO Gulmarg  Mr Irshad Ahmad vide no GGP/2023/ 381-84 Dated 28/04/2023 for further investigation in the matter  in detail so that the culprits behind selling fake tickets are brought to justice. 

It also said that the Concerned SHO has initiated the investigation immediately in the matter.  The management of cable car Corporation has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards this type of malpractice and once again requested the public in general and tourists in particular not to fall prey to the touts and miscreants. The booking of tickets has been made online just for the benefit of the people and to provide better facilities to the tourists, it added.(KNS)
