The Horticulture department has organized a 6-day tour of 32 farmers from Poonch district on exposure visit to the Kashmir valley.
The farmers have been selected from potential areas of district Poonch viz- Buffliaz, Poonch Haveli, Surankote, Mandi, Lassana, Loran, Mendhar, Balakot etc.
The tour was flagged off by MLC Haveli Constituency Jenab Shah Mohammad Tantray from Poonch on Aug 26 for Srinagar.
Before flagging off the tour, the MLC advised the visiting farmers to share their knowledge with other farmers on their return and adopt latest technologies in their field to improve and enhance the productivity.
District Horticulture Officer Poonch, Mr. Iqbal Bhatti is accompanying the fruit growers. The farmers are proposed to visit to Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH) at Rangreth, Srinagar and SKUAST to get knowhow about the innovative technologies being adopted for growing HD Apple and other crops.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe farmers will be motivated to adapt for propagation of these high productive varieties of Apple, Walnut and other crops to give a boost in their production in their respective areas.
The farmers will also be given full orientation on propagation techniques for hybrid varieties under protected conditions. Interactive session with the experts will also be arranged to enhance the knowledge of farmers.
The department has also made arrangements of boarding and lodging for the farmers during the tour to Valley. (KNS)
