Srinagar, Sep 30 (KNS): The J&K Government has constituted a high level expert team to boost and promote the floriculture as major commercial sector which will not only generate employment for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir but also will promote Kashmir as one of the best quality flower producing destination in the country.
The Secretary Tourism and floriculture shall be the chairman of the said board which has the representatives of National Horticulture board, APEDA, Agro industries Development corporation, central institute of Temperate Horticulture, SKUAST, NABARD and some expert entrepreneurs in the floriculture sector as members, the expert committee shall assess and lay a framework for establishment of floriculture as industry by suggesting the measures for mass cultivation of cut flowers to be marketed at national and international level.
The secretary said that CM is keen to develop the floriculture as sunrise industry in the state of J&K so that the unemployed youth can learn and earn for themselves and their families by exporting the cut flowers to different parts of the world.
The secretary said that the flowers of Kashmir and Jammu are of international standard and are more fragrant in nature which will help us to have very less or no competition in the middle east, SAARC, south east Asian countries and Japan.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The secretary also said that as per direction of the CM who is also the Floriculture Minister that the floriculture policy is in offing.
Farooq Ahmad Shah the secretary Tourism and Floriculture while interacting with the Hotel association representatives ,travel Trade of Jammu urged them to proactively prepare for the Navratra Festival and Jammu Travel Mart which shall be celebrated in a big way by exhibiting the rich art ,culture and heritage of Jammu.
He added that the Ex CM Mufti Mohd Syed always worked to develop Jammu region as an independent Tourist destination and the tourism department is committed to execute it on ground ,the secretary visited Bhour Park Gaadi Garh Jammu on the instructions of honble CM where he was briefed by the Director floriculture Jammu that the first phase of said park will be ready by the end of october 2016.The Secretary later visited the three stations of jammu Ropeway alongwith the MD cable car to get the on spot update about the progress of work in the said project which is under construction at the cost of Rs 62 crore and will be completed by the March 2018.
