Govt should roll back food law: NC leader

‘People suffer in absence of electricity’

Anantnag, Dec 26 (KNS): Senior leader of National Conference (NC) and former minister Sakeena Itoo Saturday said that the government has failed to provide electricity to the people in the ongoing winter and asked it to revoke National Food Security Act (NFSA).
While addressing a meeting at Dak Bangla at Khannabal, Itoo said that the government has failed to provide electricity to the people living across south Kashmir especially in district Kulgam. “Whole Valley is reeling under darkness but still government is watching as mute spectator. People are facing tough time but the present regime doesn’t even bother to look into the issues,” Itoo said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Criticizing the implementation of NFSA in the state, Itoo said the Valley is not a suitable place where the Act should be implemented. “Kashmris are rice eaters. We could have also implemented the Act during our tenure but keeping the ground reality in mind, we didn’t implement it here,” she said.
Threatening to launch agitation against the implementation of the food law, Itoo said that the government should revoke the decision or should be ready to face agitation.
The meeting was attended by MLA Homshalibugh Ab Majeed Bhat, NC district presidents of south Kashmir and several other leaders. (KNS)
