Jammu, Jan 18 (KNS): The Opposition members in the Upper House today protested against the Power Development minister Dr Nirmal Singh, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, after his department gave an “unsatisfactory” reply about revival of Mohra Power House in Uri in Baramulla district.
Congress Vice President and MLC G N Moga asked a written question to PDD minister about revival of Mohra Power House in Uri and maintaining of its heritage.
Monga asked the reasons for delay in submitting DPR for reviving Mohra Power House in Uri and steps taken to revive its heritage.
The PDD Minister has in his written reply said that 11.33 cumecs of discharge is required which needed to be released by NHPC from Uri I barrage.
“After receiving the assurance from NHPC about the discharge, DPR was updated by JKSPDC. A Consultant has been engaged to update DPR to maintain heritage project that has a capacity of 9 MWs hydro-power,” the minister replied to the question.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Not satisfied with the “incomplete” reply, Monga wanted to discuss the matter in the house but the PDD minister was not present. Senior PDP leader and Revenue Minister A R Veeri present in the House replied on behalf of the PDD minister.
“The minister concerned, who we have not seen in the House, has submitted a wrong and incomplete reply,” Monga said.
“The government must start work on the project but from the last five years it has been giving the same reply. The government is not serious in reviving the heritage project,” he said, adding, “which consultant the government has hired. A vague reply is not an answer.”
Monga was joined by other members of the opposition who demanded that the PDD minister should join the House and reply to the member. During this period a heated exchange of words took place between the minister the the Opposition member. (KNS)
