Srinagar, Sep 03(KNS): Director Tourism Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo on Saturday said that the government is keen to make the Gurez Valley all-weather tourist destination.
Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), he said that the Gurez valley has tremendous tourism potential and the government is in process to upgrade infrastructure facilities to attract more tourists to the picturesque valley.
“Gurez has a lot of tourism potential. There is scope for all activities, including trekking, mountain biking and white water rafting, which need to be promoted through such festivals,”he said.
He also said that focus on winter sports activities and skiing competition events needs to be prioritized there.
Notabaly, in an effort to put the virgin locations of Gurez on the tourism map, a three-day ‘Gurez Festival’ was organised by the tourism department and Bandipora district administration which started on Saturday.
The festival marked the display of rich art, craft, culture, heritage and sports activities besides organization of several adventures including trekking, hiking and water sports.(KNS)
