Srinagar, June 10 (KNS): Terming imposition of restrictions and ban on the peaceful activities of resistance leadership and placing them under house arrest as unfortunate, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said though he was able to participate in Friday congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid after being held under house arrest on previous two Fridays he added that
The government itself was raking up issues, very sensitive to the people of Kashmir and having the potential of harming their collective interests, the Hurriyat (M) Chairman said the people of Kashmir and resistance leadership would strongly oppose any such moves.
Addressing a massive congregational gathering before Friday prayers at historic Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, the Mirwaiz said in the name of setting up of Sainik colonies, separate township for displaced Kashmiri Pandits, and the new industrial policy, anti-Kashmiri plans were being framed to divide the Kashmiri society and damage the disputed status of J&K.
Stressing that the return of Kashmiri Pandits was being politicized to present the just struggle of Kashmiri people as extremist movement, the Mirwaiz said this was being done to give an impression that Kashmiri Pandits were not safe among Kashmiri Muslims, therefore, a separate township for them.
He said, however, the reality was that APHC believes Kashmiri Pandits are an integral part of Kashmiri society and the conglomerate has always welcomed their return to Kashmir.
The Mirwaiz said that to register a protest and make people aware about the effects of such plans the resistance leadership has chalked out a joint programme which would be followed with commitment.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Calling upon the government to clarify its stance over these issues, he said the APHC’s struggle has always been peaceful in every aspect and that it did not stand for disturbing peace.
Terming the arrest of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik at Central Jail Srinagar, continued house arrest of veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and restrictions placed on the movement of rest of the resistance leadership as the reflection of frustration on part of the government, the Mirwaiz called upon the Government of India to realize that Kashmir was a political issue and that by using force and aggression, it had neither achieved any success in the past nor would it do so in the future.
Describing Kashmir’s resolution as a necessity for saving the future of crores of people of entire South Asia, he said the issue needed to be resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir through a meaningful dialogue process involving with the Indian, Pakistani and the people of Kashmir to find out a permanent and a long-lasting solution to it.
Announcing the Waiz-o-Tableeg programme schedule of the Mirwaiz for the first part (10 days of Rehmat) of the ongoing holy month of Ramadan, the Mirwaiz said on Sunday, 6th Ramadan, a programme would be held at Masjid Rang Paristaan, Rainawari from 4 pm; on Tuesday, 8th Ramadan, another programme would be held at Masjid Braripora Nawa Kadal from 4 pm; on Thursday, 10th Ramadan, yet another programme would be held at Dastgeer Sahab shrine at Khanyar from 4 pm while on Friday, 11th Ramadan, Waiz-o-Tableeg, would be held at historic Jamia Masjid, Srinagar.
