Srinagar, Dec 13 (KNS): With an aim to develop the floriculture as an employment generating avenue eying the huge market for its produce at national and international level the Government is keen to make this sector as the priority sector.
The Secretary Tourism and floriculture in an important meeting with the coordinator for the centers of excellence for India from the Kingdom of Netherlands Leon Husson discussed threadbare about the potential of floriculture in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and it was decided to establish one center of excellence for skill up gradation in the floriculture sector which will be executed by generating awareness, farmer training and specific methodology training in the said sector the meeting was also attended by the Dy councilor from the Kingdom of Netherlands for India in agriculture, floriculture and nature.
Secretary floriculture Farooq Ahmad Shah said that Govt is developing floriculture as one of the priority sector which not only will benefit the state economically but will prove as a major employment generating initiative because the flowers of Jammu Kashmir are rich in fragrance and have increased shelf life, the secretary said that Chief Minister is seriously working to focus on the sectors which are employment generating and are economically rewarding for the youth of the State.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Earlier Secretary Tourism and floriculture had a review meeting with the Principals of JIM Pahalgam (Jawahar institute of Mountaineering), IHM Srinagar, Food and craft institute Jammu, Food and craft institute Leh and secretaries of RSGC and Jammu Tawi Golf course. Secretary Tourism urged the officials to focus on Hunar Sey Rozgaar scheme and set a target of training 4000 boys and girls or honing their skills it was decided to open the branches of FCI Jammu in Baderwah and Rajouri similarly the branches of IHM Srinagar in Anantnag and Baramulla for extended training and skill up gradation avenues to the youth of far flung areas of the said regions as well which will open up employment avenues for the skilled youth who can work in and outside the country for sustaining their life and their families.
The secretary of RSGC and Jammu Tawi golf course were advised to upkeep and maintain the respective golf course with the best technology and international standard for readying them to host national and international standard golf tournaments and championships.
Secretary said that the Govt is promoting the state as one of the best MICE and GOLF destination which he said has international standard infrastructure in the said sector. (KNS)
