Govt in J&K will not last full term, says BJP's Sunil Sharma

Jammu, June 12(KNS): Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma on Friday claimed that the National Conference-led government in the Union Territory would not complete its tenure, but asserted that the BJP would neither seek to topple the dispensation nor attempt to form an alternative government.

Addressing reporters here, Sharma said the ruling coalition was facing internal contradictions and would eventually "collapse on its own."

"The BJP has no role in bringing down this government. We will neither make it fall nor form a government after its fall," he said.

The senior BJP leader alleged that the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir remained unstable and maintained that the present dispensation lacked cohesion.

Targeting the ruling National Conference, Sharma said the party had built its political narrative around the restoration of Article 370 but was now sending contradictory signals to the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Referring to recent interactions between Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he questioned what he described as the party's changing political stand.

Sharma also claimed that the National Conference had witnessed a decline in its political relevance and support base over the years. He alleged that recent political developments had led to a shift in the tone adopted by some of its senior leaders, including party president Farooq Abdullah.

The BJP leader further alleged that efforts were being made through backchannel channels to engineer defections, while asserting that his party was not involved in any such exercise.

Without specifying a timeframe, Sharma reiterated that the government would not be able to complete its full term and would fall because of its own weaknesses.(KNS).
