Srinagar, Mar 1 (KNS): The government has given its nod for the setting up a housing colony for journalists, press colony and welfare fund in the Valley.
The move comes after the Jammu and Kashmir Press Association had submitted a 12-point memorandum of demands to the Governor N N Vohra.
While chairing a meeting of its members, the JKPA president Ghulam Hassan Kaloo informed the participants that the government has given a green signal to establishing press colony, housing colony for journalists, press colony and welfare fund in the Valley.
“The final decision will be taken by the government soon after going through the legal and financial provisions of these issues,” Kaloo told the members.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
While thanking the Governor N N Vohra, Chief Secretary b R Sharma, Financial Commissioner B B Vyas and Director General Information Zaffar Ahmad Bhat, Kaloo said that the other issues of the media fraternity will also be addressed by the government.
The Association had held a meeting on November 4 last year with the chief secretary BR Sharma over these issues. (KNS)
