Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Wednesday expressed displeasure over failure of government to remove re-employed principal of government medical college (GMC) Srinagar, Dr Rafiq Pampori.
In a statement to KNS, President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan said that Dr Rafiq has strong connections because of which he enjoys immunity to government order wherein all re-employments and re-engagements were terminated.
The selective implementation of termination of re-engagements buries the very idea of the government order.
The purpose of government to terminate re-employment was to revive administration and rid state from scourge of nepotism.
The order was intended to clear deadwood and end uncalled for stagnation and pave way for fresh minds with new ideas.
It seems that present dispensation is carrying on with the legacy of nepotism and favoritism of previous regimens.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Dr Rafiq was given one year extension after his superannuation in February 2014 which was against recruitment rules and government order of blanket ban on re-engagement.
The re-employment of principal has blocked opportunities of new comers and has created disinterest among aspirants who are denied the right to deserved higher positions.
The re-engaged principal instead of focusing on patient care remains busy in appeasing those who have favored him.
This practice of favoritism has eroded GMC and is the root cause of its deterioration.
GMC which was once known for its high standards of patient care and quality education is crumbling because of menace of favoritism.
If government is serious to restore GMC and its associated hospitals it should immediately remove Dr Rafiq and appoint a permanent principal. (KNS)
