RTI Movement appreciates Comm-Secy Food

Srinagar July 8:(KNS)   Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement has appreciated Commissioner Secretary Food Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs Department (FCS & CA) for streamlining the public distribution system (PDS) in Jammu & Kashmir by asking all the Govt employees and well to do people to surrender their BPL , Priority household (PHH) and AAY ration cards with 15 days.

In a statement Chairman RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat said that many people who were not having good economic conditions some years back had obtained PHH or BPL ration cards , but now some of them have got Govt jobs now. A huge number of ineligible people had been provided BPL and even Antodaya Ana Yojna (AAY) ration cards in the past on political considerations while as many poorest of poor were left.

“ We exposed how the poorest of poor were not provided BPL or PHH ration cards last year after doing a survey , taking details from the online portal of FCS & CA department and then cross checking it in Loolipora , Kutabal and some other villages in Budgam district. Since then we have been asking the Govt to streamline the whole PDS. Former Secretary FCS & CA Simrandeep Singh took the initiative and now the present Commissioner Secretary Zubair Ahmad ensured that ineligible people are not enlisted as PHH, BPL or AAY under National Food Security Act. This is indeed a great decision. We are appreciate him for adhar linking all the consumers `` said Dr Raja Muzaffar

The Food Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) department  on Wednesday directed all the government employees and the consumers having good economic conditions to surrender their Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household (PHH) ration.

The notification in this regard has been issued by Director FCSCA Kashmir.

The notification states that the families, households or ration ticket holders whose financial position had improved since the implementation of National food Security Act (NFSA) had rendered them ineligible for receiving ration under the AAY and PHH categories.

“All such ration ticket holders are hereby advised to voluntarily surrender their ration tickets issued in their favour under AAY or PHH categories within 15 days,” the notification reads.(KNS)
