Pulwama, Feb 4(KNS): Government Degree College, Pulwama on Tuesday organised an online lecture on the occasion of World Cancer Day, highlighting the rising burden of cancer in Jammu and Kashmir.

The lecture was delivered by Dr Manzoor A. Mir of the Department of Bioresources, University of Kashmir. Speaking on “Rising Burden of Cancer in Jammu and Kashmir: The Way Forward to Tackle It”, Dr Mir warned of the increasing incidence of cancer cases in the region and discussed key risk factors.

He stressed the importance of preventive strategies, screening, and early diagnosis in tackling the disease, and underlined the role of information, education and communication (IEC) in addressing the challenge.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Dr Mir also highlighted the significance of information technology and research in strengthening cancer prevention and treatment efforts.

The event was held under the patronage of College Principal Dr Bashir A. Sheikh, who in his address emphasised the need for awareness programmes to combat cancer effectively.

The lecture was coordinated by Dr Shah Ubaidullah of the Department of Biotechnology.(KNS).
