Srinagar, June 09 (KNS): Government Thursday admitted that many villages in southern Shopian district are getting inadequate drinking water supply from existing water supply schemes which have been constructed few decades ago.
However, it said that to address the shortage two water supply schemes at Amberbugh-Wadepora and Sofipora-Hydegund in Wachi Assembly segment have been approved under by the government.
Minister for PHE and IFC Sham Choudhary in reply to a written question of MLA Wachi Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Mir said that these two schemes have been approved under District Sector with NABARD loan assistance by District Development Board during 2016-17.
The minister said that detailed project report has been framed for WSS Melhura, Kundalan, Kharwara, Nildoora, DK Pora and Dhobipora Nagbal and the report is under scrutiny.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The minister said that to overcome scarcity of drinking water, departmental tankers are plying in the area on daily basis.
The minister said tapping of spring at Zainapora for water supply to the residents has been proposed to the government.
The minister said that water supply schemes in Aglar Lower belt, Manzimpora and Kumar Mohalla Wachi has been completed and commissioned, while WSS Check Sehpora, Karewa-Safanagri, Kashwa-Naibasti, Kongnoo-Chitragam, Lose Danew, Manzimpora, Shirmal -Sherpathri, Tachloo-Tulran, Trenz-Khorampora are under construction.
“About 80 per cent of work in these schemes is completed,” the minister said.
He said that tendering for WSS at Mughalpora-Turkawangam, N.C Herman and Nolie-Kunsoo is in process. (KNS)?
