First Commission rolled out after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, September 29 (KNS): Government today appointed Development Practitioner Iqbal Lone as Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Social welfare Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

 
Notably, Jammu and Kashmir government winded up all the commissions immediately after the abrogation of Article 370 including the Disabilities commission in the year 2019. After three years an advertisement Notice was published by the Social Welfare Department No. DIP/J-6299 dated 06.09.2021 followed by another advertisement Notice No. SWD/Adm/62/2021-02 dated 07.01.2022, where in approximately 30 and 73 applications were received for the interested persons to be appointed for the post of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
As per the eligible, interested persons for appointment to the post of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in terms of the Rules of 2021 issued vide SO-91 dated 15-03-2021 eight (8) shortlisted candidates were invited for the interview for the said post.

Among these eight shortlisted candidates M Iqbal Lone who holds BSC, MSW, Human Rights besides 3 International fellowships, several specialised diplomas and research including more than 20 years of experience in the development fields successfully qualified for the post of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Social welfare department- Government of Jammu and Kashmir with the order issues today.

As per SO No: 463 order issued today by the social welfare department No: SWD/DIS/31/2022-02 dated 28th September 2022 copy of which is present with us. 
One of the senior officers in social welfare department said that this is for the first time when government has issued notification and advertisement for this post based the central Act and rules, it was a tight competition between these applicants and the merit, interview was conducted strictly as per the guidelines, concern Act and rules.(KNS)
