GOI Issues Advisory for Nationals to Depart Iran Amidst Regional Tensions

 NEW DELHI, JAN 14 (KNS) : The Government of India has formally advised all Indian nationals residing in or visiting the Islamic Republic of Iran to leave the country without delay. The advisory, issued in light of the evolving regional situation, applies specifically to students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists.

 
This directive, a copy of which was obtained by the Kashmir News Service (KNS), supersedes a prior advisory issued on January 5, 2025. It urges citizens to utilize all available means of transport, including operational commercial flights, to facilitate their departure.
 
The official order states: "In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2025, and in view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights."
 
The government has reiterated its call for all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Iran to exercise extreme caution. They are instructed to avoid areas where protests or demonstrations are occurring, maintain regular contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran, and closely monitor local media for updates.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
Furthermore, all individuals are urged to ensure their travel and immigration documents—including passports and relevant identification—are kept readily accessible at all times. The Embassy stands ready to provide necessary assistance in this regard.
 
The advisory also includes a mandate for registration. All Indian nationals in Iran who have not yet registered with the Embassy are requested to do so immediately via the official portal: https://www.meaers.com/request/home. The link is also available on the Embassy’s website. The order notes that in instances where internet disruptions in Iran prevent self-registration, family members in India are requested to complete the process on their behalf.
