Srinagar, Dec 15 (KNS): Paying rich tributes to Shaheed Shamas-ul-Haq, Sofi Mohammad Akbar and Abu Bakar martyred in Bomai Sopore, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani said that conscious nations can never afford to forget the sacrifices of brave sons of their soil and the best way recall and remember their contribution is to refresh the pledge to honor their blood and not to be cowed down to surrender or compromise by the oppressive forces. Sofi Mohammad Akbar opposed the treason and betrayal by the tall leaders of his time & chose to live a modest life away from the glare & glamour of power.
In a statement issued to KNS, Geelani further said that Shaheed Shamas-ul-Haq was a renowned and knowledgeable scholar who willfully chose to lead, from the front, the movement for Islam and Azadi. Meanwhile, Chairman Hurriyat (G), Syed Ali Geelani expressed his serious concern about the deteriorating condition of ailing wife of incarcerated Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar.
Geelani said that she is suffering from cancer and her condition is worsening with each passing day. Doctors have advised her family to shift her to Delhi for further treatment. Geelani said that Ayaz Akbar continues to be in Kotbal Jail for the last 3 months and his absence her further treatment is difficult. (KNS)
