Srinagar, Aug 20 (KNS): Felicitating the Muslim Ummah and the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir on the sacred occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani appealed to the fellow people who are facing the tough times of the human history under Indian subjugation, to maintain austerity and the high spirits of the real Islamic Values while celebrating our festivals.
In a statement issued to KNS, Geelani said that “such festivals provide occasions to share the best movements of joy with the destitute and needy brethren of our society.”
“We as the true Muslims should try our level best to symbolize the spirit of sacrifices in our day to day life for the good of the Humanity,” he added.
Meanwhile, terming the random incarceration of resistance leaders of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha as ‘a mark of tyranny on the face’ of India claiming the largest democracy of the world, Geelani expressed his grave concern on the ‘sheer lawlessness’ prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir.
While condemning the ‘vile action’ of slapping Public Safety Act (a draconian law )for several consecutive terms, on Mohammad Yousf Flahi, Mohammad Hussain Waggay, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat and others, Geelani said that most of the incarcerated leaders were arrested during the 2016 peoples uprising, whereas their detention orders were quashed by the court of law.
Strongly condemning the ‘ruthless attitude’ towards the prisoners of conscience belonging to Jammu and Kashmir, Geelani said that even the despotic rulers of the primitive age used to display their kindness by releasing the prisoners on the religious festivals to make possible share the jubilant occasion with their children.

Urging the immediate intervention to deter the plight of the prisoners of conscience, Geelani appealed to the United Nations Human Rights Commission, International Red Cross, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch Asia to take cognizance of the plight of these prisoners at the hands of Indian State.
Meanwhile, Geelani expressed his deep grief over the demise of Ghulam Hassan Zia Father-in-Law of a Javed Malik, senior editor Greater Kashmir.
Praying for his heavenly abode, Geelani extended his condolences with grieved family and prayed for their forbiddance to bear this ‘irreparable loss. (KNS)
